Superb, original golf in Brittany
|
|
Brittany - One of France's most rugged regions, Brittany is a fascinating
mix of spectacular coastline, ancient towns, magical islands and inland woods. |
As airlines struggle to manage new security measures, another option
open to golfers wanting to travel abroad is a ferry to Brittany.
This region of northern France is easily reached from south coast
ports including
Portsmouth and
Plymouth, with Brittany Ferries being one company that operates
services to
St Malo and
Roscoff.
Once there, holidaymakers can enjoy the high-quality facilities
offered by the local golf courses.
Golfers can also make use of the Brittany Golf Pass, which
gives a one-fifth discount on the region's green fees (15 per cent
off the Dinard and Rennes Saint-Jacques courses).
It is available through Brittany Best Breaks, which says the courses
are "superb, original and technical all at the same time".
Those in need of a dose of culture won't have any trouble finding
places of interest in this region of north-west France.
Brittany is famous for its megalithic monuments, especially those
near Carnac, while the walled coastal town of St Malo – the most
popular tourist town in Brittany – has a famous castle and
cathedral. |
