Longest Bridle Track In Italy On Gran Sasso

A 300km trail running through the provinces of L'Aquila,
Pescara and
Teramo, and eight of the 11 tourist-environment districts of the
Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga national park, the highest in the
Appenines. That's the bridle track of the Gran Sasso, presented in
Fonte Vetica (Campo Imperatore). The ceremony was attended by
Undersecretary to Sport, Giovanni Lolli, director-general for nature
preservation at the Environment Ministry, Aldo Cosentino, and the
chief of the Forest Rangers, Cesare Patrone. "We are proud to
present the bridle track - said the president of the park - a
strategic project for development, which we have been pursuing for
years, combining it with environment preservation and sustainable
economic projects". "The bridle track - said Mazzitti - is an
extraordinary trail, to be enjoyed on horseback, on foot or by
bicycle, to appreciate a unique environmental and cultural heritage,
amidst a beautiful scenario. The trail is duly equipped, with
drinking troughs and low-impact structures. Plus, there is an
enhanced network of hosting structures and communication, and new
opportunities for horse-riding and other 'green' sports, such as
mountain bike riding". |
