The
Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai has launched “Interactions” a new dinner-time
experience aimed specifically at individual business travellers looking for
conversation and company over dinner.
“Interactions is one of the most innovative, yet simple concepts to be
introduced in to the Dubai hotel scene, adding another service for our
valuable guests.” said Sharon Garrett, director of communications for
Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.
As a business traveller, you may well travel three out of four weeks in a
month, leaving loved ones, spouse and family behind at home. While away,
your schedule of meetings is exhausting and most nights you go back to the
hotel to dine in the privacy of your suite or brave a restaurant alone.
Dining by oneself isn’t always as exciting as it is with others, and the
alternative of room service, while once in a while is fun, each and every
night, lacks a certain appeal.
The Interactions dinners are available to in-house guests only, both male
and female. Ms Garrett is clear to highlight “…this is not a dating service.
It is merely putting individual travellers in touch with other people in the
same situation, for some light hearted conversation. Some people would see
it as a more relaxed form of networking accompanied by a local expatriate
resident to add some insights into the culture and vibe of dazzling Dubai.”
Guests at the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai are spoilt for choice when it comes
to dining, and the Interactions dinners are no exception. Each night a
different restaurant is allocated for the dining experience, whether it be
French-Vietnamese at Hoi An, Modern Moroccan at Marrakech, Seafood
Euro-Fusion at Amwaj or Cantonese at Shang Palace. A maximum of 10 guests
can participate and a minimum of just one, who are joined by a local
expatriate member of the hotel’s management.
Interactions, offers flexibility for guests to join for the entire meal
or part thereof, selecting from a set menu and drinks list including wine by
the glass. Each guest receives their own bill at the end of the night or
simply signs the charges to their room account.
“I think the fact that the group is accompanied by someone who lives and
works in Dubai is appealing. This is not a structured gathering it’s
designed to be fun and allow social, business and dining interactions with
people in similar circumstances, such as being away from home on business
travel. To understand the driving force behind this idea I simply ask the
question: How many times have you been away on business and just hid in your
room or sat quietly alone in the bar? I think it will be especially popular
with our female business travellers.” Ms Garrett said.
The Interactions dining experience is just AED150 per person (for a 3
course set menu and a glass of selected wine) and is available Saturday to
Thursday nights at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai at 20:00 for in-house guests
only.
