The
Sofitel Metropole Hanoi’s reputation as a world-class hotel received a
boost recently when readers of two leading US travel magazines voted the
hotel into a list of the world’s 500 best hotels.
The Metropole is now featured on this year’s Gold List, which was
compiled according to votes cast by readers of Travel + Leisure and Conde
Nast Traveller.
The awards aimed to spotlight the world’s finest hotels, resorts, and
cruise lines, with a focus on design, location, rooms, activities, service
and food. Sofitel Metropole Hanoi was the only hotel in the Vietnamese
capital that was recognised on the list.
The annual World’s Best Awards for travel and leisure was based on the
votes of more than 200,000 respondents. In 2003, Sofitel Metropole Hanoi was
the first Vietnamese hotel to qualify for the list. In 2006, the hotel was
praised by Travel + Leisure as "a beautiful 1901 landmark in Ha Noi’s French
quarter... the capital’s finest hotel with that rare combination of
contemporary luxury and classic atmosphere."
