El Rompido, one of Spain's glitzy new resort courses, will host
the grand finals of two mainstream Ulster tournaments this season.
The
prize shoot-out in the Belfast Telegraph/Yellow Pages company
challenge returns there on October 8-12, followed a week later by
the knock-out finals of Ireland's lowest scoring golf event, the
90-club Eastwood Scramble.
The bonus of an additional card-and-pencil round is testimony to
the growth and popularity of the Telegraph/ Yellow Pages classic.
Stage one will be at Malone on Monday, May 15, but should this
gem of a city course be too tough for some, they can test their
skills on a choice of three other fine courses --- Edenmore (June
19), Rockmount (August 7) or Ardglass (September 11).
In all, nearly 600 golfers, representing 150 companies, will play
in the tournament, in which Edenmore are the defending champions.
As usual, Posnett Golf are calling the shots. "El
Rompido is just across the Spanish border from
Faro Airport, and an idyllic spot," says organiser supreme, Phil
Posnett. "The course is close to, if not on the ocean, and on a par
with the
five-star hotel."
A four-a-side corporate team must include at least one staff
member, and may be all-male, female or mixed, playing off a full
handicap allowance.
The team entry of £264 covers lunch, prizes, and a goodie bag.
Laser Electrical are support sponsors here, one of nearly 40
company golf days run annually by Posnett Golf. Phone 44-828686 for
an entry form.
