Gazing down from the Swiss Alps

Switzerland is known for having some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe. It is also the home of a popular cartoon called Heidi's Switzerland. Let’s go!

Like the scenes from the animated film, Heidi’s Switzerland, the Swiss Alps are covered in snow all year long. Supposedly, it is the home of the angels. And since we’ve come all the way from Taiwan, we absolutely must get as close to the peak as possible.

Hotels Grindelwald

Sunstar Hotel Grindelwald ****
This hotel is the largest in the area and is situated in the centre of Grindelwald within easy walking distance of the railway station and all other amenities. It overlooks the valley and is set in very peaceful surroundings.

In order to get to the peak, we had to make three different transfers at the different cable-car stations. The scenery is just amazing, as we gazed down from the cable cars. The small Swiss villages look just like the villages in the cartoon.

After a breath-taking 45-minute ride, we finally reached the famous Jungfrau peaks. This is the perfect spot to gaze down upon the amazing “garden of Europe” --as Switzerland is often called. It’s also the favorite destination for Swiss skiers. “ I am a Swiss and I am not afraid of heights,” said this Swiss woman.

“The courses are not difficult at all. This is really easy, just for beginners,” said this Swiss skier.

While not a difficult task for the local Swiss, it may be a bit of a challenge for me, so I’ve chosen the easy way of going down the Alps-- on a ski-tire. “ I am also here to challenge the Swiss Alps in a way that is different from most locals here. This is really fun,”said.

The beauty and excitement of the Swiss Alps is something that you must experience for yourself in order to fully comprehend the beauty of its fairytale-like scenery.
