Liam shows off new 'Lincoln' physique in St. Tropez

The latest name to be spotted soaking up a little sun is Batman Begins actor Liam Neeson, who follows in the footsteps of Geri Halliwell, Michael Caine and model Caprice in taking time out on the French coast.

Casually dressed in pale grey linen trousers and cotton t-shirt, the hunky actor was enjoying a break with his wife Natasha Richardson and sons Michael, ten, and Daniel, eight.

Obviously keen to top up his tan, at one point the 53-year-old Irish former boxer went bare-chested, revealing he's clearly adhering to his regular jogging and gym routine. He's also looking significantly thinner these days as a result of the crash diet he's on in preparation for his next role as American Civil War president Abraham Lincoln.

Earlier in the month County Antrim residents noticed the 6ft 4in actor was looking more svelte than usual during a break at his Irish holiday home. "Liam looked very gaunt and everybody was taken by his appearance," said one. "But there was nothing to worry about as he is on a hell of a strict diet as he has to be tall and thin to play Lincoln."
