The Sofitel Lisboa, located on Lisbon's prestigious Avenida da Liberdade and
well-known in the city for more than 13 years, re-opened its doors today
(May 11, 2005) following a complete renovation.
Renowned international architects/designers Marc Hertrich and Nicolas
Adnet, French couture fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and
florist Carlos Filipe have created an ambience at the Sofitel Lisboa that is
a distinctive blend of French culture and Portuguese traditions, as well as
of the past and future. Classic French and Portuguese artwork intermingle
with modern, innovate creations that illustrate the city by local painter
Manuela Mahr. The hotel's decor features various shades of red inspired by
Port wines, gold symbolizing the city's historical roots dating back to the
Age of Discovery and dark wood furniture in traditional Portuguese fashion.
