Banyan Tree Phuket, Thailand, is Asia's best resort, according to a new
resort and hotel guide published today.
The luxury spa resort came out top in an online poll of over 64,000
travellers for the second edition of Asia's Best Hotels & Resorts.
Datai Langkawi, on the
Malaysian island of Langkawi, was in second place;
while Shangri-La's Mactan Island resort in the Philippines was in third.
Peninsula, Hong Kong, where prices start at US$333 (£180) per night, was
voted the top hotel by the guidebook.
Oriental Bangkok, Thailand, and
Ritz-Carlton Millenia in Singapore were
second and third on the list.
Each entry in the 384-page guide is rated on eight criteria including
ambience, value for money, staff attitude, family friendliness and dining
options.
It contains profiles of 400 hotels and resorts, covering 22 Asian
countries.
